Costume Talk - Tea Party on Tax Day!
Welcome to the first edition of Costume Talk! Costume Talk will look at recent news stories that in one way or another have something to do with well, costumes. It's always interesting to see how costumes have an effect on culture and we'll try to bring some of the most interesting stories to the forefront.
Our inaugural story lands on Tax Day in the United States. What better way to kick it off than with a story about tax day protesters in costume?
According to Fox News, hundreds of anti-tax rallies kicked off on Wednesday in several U.S. cities.
The kicker here is "(protesters) dressed in colonial wigs with tea bags hanging from their glasses" and the report goes on to say some rallies had planned for over one million tea bags delivered. The rallies are part of a larger grassroots movement called Taxed Enough Already - which is why there are all the references to that historical TEA party in Boston.
You may or may not agree with the rallies, but you have to enjoy the creativity of the protesters. Using costumes to get your point across is not the most traditional tactic, but I'm sure their point was made.
