While you may be thinking this is mostly due to the success of the “Pirates of the Caribbean” movie franchise, that’s not necessarily true. Pirates are more popular than ever as evidenced by the hundreds of pirate themed events all over the country. Gasparilla, in Tampa Bay, Florida is probably the biggest of these events. It’s a great event which brings thousands of visitors each year and features a street dance, fireworks, and a live pirate invasion! Not to mention, everyone dresses up in their best pirate garb.
Not only are there tons of events to show off your pirate self, each year on September 19, it is “Talk Like a Pirate Day”. Some of us at BuyCostumes take this opportunity each year to get down with our inner buccaneer and have fun dressing up and talking like pirates!
