Presidential Luau

On Thursday, June 25th, President Obama brought a taste of Hawaii to the White House for the congressional picnic. There were tiki torches, palm trees, and of course, leis to go around. Traditional Hawaiian Luau food was served and there was even Hula Dancing lessons (which Obama participated in!). Famous Hawaii chef, Alan Wong, said that throwing a traditional luau is showing great respect to his Congress. He said that luaus are thrown for special occasions such as weddings or 1st birthday parties. With over 2,000 guests, the South Lawn of the White house was transformed into a Polynesian paradise. Everyone really got into the theme, dressed in Hawaiian shirts, while the press secretary, Robert Gibbs, sat in the dunk tank! To follow suit with The Hawaiian and Presidential theme, maybe they were wearing red, white, and blue leis!

Even though we have talked about summer luaus pretty recently, I just wanted to give an example of how everyone enjoys summer and makes each of their festivities one to remember. While most of you will probably not have a traditional Hawaiian Islands band, featuring ukuleles and Tahitian banjos, little things really go a long way when you are enjoying time with friends and family. Get everyone to dress up! Just the colorful shirts and clothing will give the party that extra spirit. Pick up some tiki torches from your local hardware store and decorate with hibiscus flowers. We know you won’t be able to plant palm trees around the perimeter of the lawn, like the president did, but inflatable palm trees are a great value and can be stored nice and small for your next party. We have dozens of leis, in different colors and prices to hand out as a favor for your guests! And there will always be that Great Uncle that will show up in a Hula skirt and coconut bra! Adn don’t forget to document the event, and share it with us! I know your guests will be lining up to take a picture in the Luau Photo Stand-up.

So follow the president’s example and throw a summer luau that you and all your guests will never forget!

Milwaukee has faith in Danny Gokey

For Idol Fans across the nation, it’s hard not to love Danny Gokey. His infectious smile and ‘killer’ endings to each and every song have him on the top of everyone’s list. Probably the most notable moment was this past week singing Aerosmith’s “Dream On” and hitting the last note, although hitting it is debatable… If you haven’t heard it by now, a quick search on YouTube your or a download at iTunes will bring you right up to speed.
Danny’s incredible journey on American Idol is hard not to follow. It includes the tragic loss of his wife just weeks before he auditioned for Season 8. To this day, he still wears his wedding ring and is known for forming a heart with his two hands during performances as a small but ultra romantic gesture to remember her. Performances including Mariah Carey’s “Hero” and Rascal Flatts “Bless the Broken Road,” have most in tears and you can’t help but think he’s remembering his wife with each and every note.
So aside from his “Scream On” moment, there’s no doubt Danny deserves a spot in the Top 3. A native to Milwaukee, WI and advocate in some of the struggling neighborhoods in which he works, we can’t help but have faith in our hometown hero, Danny Gokey!
Congratulations Danny and good luck from all of us here at BuySeasons, Inc. For anyone that wants to create their own Idol Banners, visit BirthdayExpress.com and personalize a message today.

Mardi gras is coming to town!

Mardi gras, also known as Fat Tuesday, is on February 24th this year. That means from today, you only have 4 days to get your party attire situated and figured out. I was reading about the history of this celebration today and was amazed to learn it goes back 5,000 years! That’s a long time people! I love Mardi gras for a few reasons. First and foremost, it’s great because this means spring is right around the corner! Living in Wisconsin is brutally cold during the winter months so there is nothing I look forward to more than the thawing of the ground and being able to see the green grass again! Second, I absolutely LOVE the fabulous colors Mardi Gras entails. Purple, green and gold, just really cool looking colors and when else is it acceptable to wear these colors together? According to some color coordinated friends of mine…Never. Did you know that all of the colors actually MEAN something too? Yup! Purple is for Justice, green is for faith and gold is for power! Lastly, it’s another reason to get some friends together, make some food, dress up and celebrate! We all need time to relax and celebrate with friends after all the hard working. So, get out the beads, party supplies, décor and even costumes and party yourselves silly!

Cheers!

Though BuySeasons has been open and running business out of its new facility since April 1st of this year, the largest building in New Berlin officially opened its doors with a ceremonial ribbon cutting on Wednesday, July 16th, 2008 at 11:30am. 4th of July Parade

On the morning of Friday July 4th, a crew of our cast of characters came to march in the New Berlin 4th of July parade. Dressed up in costumes and practicing their beauty queen/king waves, they were there to spread the spirit of BUYSEASONS.

The parade began at 1:00 PM and went about a mile and a half down national Avenue. The parade draws about 25,000 people each year, so we were excited to help out our city in making the parade wonderful.

Associates from BUYSEASONS and their families dressed up in everything from pirates to power rangers to gladiators to Uncle Sam.
We decorated a 1960’s convertible and handed out candy and coupons to the children! We also had hopes to recruit local citizens to come work with us during our Halloween season! There was great weather and everyone is looking forward to the parade next year.
If you have any questions about joining the BUYSEASONS team please contact davidk@buyseasons.com.
Thank you,
Katie Chiovatero

Congrats Graduates – now it’s time to let your hair down!

I’d like to offer a sincere “Congratulations” to graduates this Spring. Whether graduating from Pre-K, 8th grade, high school or college, graduation symbolizes a job well done and your ability to complete step by step tasks.

So what better way to celebrate than with a party! And…to help you do so, below is a step by step To Do List and considerations for planning a Graduation Party.

To Do List for Planning a Graduation Party:

- Assess Guest List – plan a menu that will feed total # of guests and then some!

- Mail Graduation Invitations 3-4 weeks ahead of time

- Plan a party that lasts 3 hours or more – for out of town guests, anything less is just not worth the drive

- Check the weather – account for the possibility that guests will need to be inside and outside

- Contact Rental Agencies for tables and chairs, a tent perhaps?

- Have plenty of beverages – stock coolers ahead of time and just pour a bag of ice over them on the day of the party

- Chow Line – use serving bowls and disposable forks to keep dishes to a minimum

- Get out the Sports Equipment – put up the volleyball net, set out some basketballs, bocce ball sets, croquet, etc… Your friends and family will know what to do!

- Provide lined garbage cans and recycling cans to make clean up a cinch

- Bees? Combine Mountain Dew & Dish Soap (1 cup solution) and place on outer boundaries of party area (it works!)

Graduation Party Supplies:

- Solid Color Tablecovers - be sure to match the colors of the graduate’s school or university

- Paper Plates and Party Napkins – mix and match plates and napkins again per school colors

- Generic Graduation themed party supplies such as the Cap Toss Deluxe Party Kit

- Hang a “Congrats” Banner and decorate tables with graduation centerpieces

- Cocktail Parasols / Umbrellas - because a summer party just isn’t complete without them!

- Try a theme? Does your graduate love Spider Man or Hawaii? Then plan your graduation party around various party themes and matching party supplies.
