Do you remember Captain Planet? Because I’m about to reference it, and you probably won’t have a clue what’s going on if you’re not familiar with the show.

If that doesn’t whet your whistle sufficiently, allow me to pontificate on the value of a bowl. Bowls are one of the most versatile dishes in existence. Just think about it. You can fill a bowl with solids (apples, peas, dog biscuits, door keys, frogs, pieces of bread, or peanut M&Ms) and you can also put liquids and semi-solids in them (juice, water, beer, paint, plaster of paris, Windex, etc.), plus, you can stand on them to use them as a stepstool (though I wouldn’t recommend standing on these), you can sit on them as a tiny chair (again, not recommended), you can play catch with them, and, depending on the aerodynamic design of a particular bowl – it might serve function as a frisbee.
