We want to keep our readers as updated and in-the-know as possible, especially during the Halloween Season.  Our marketing team came across an article on CNN.com this morning about a Floridian mascot that exuded great self defense techniques.  Read the article and my summary, and feel free to post your comments below.

The written report and accompanying video begins with Elmo spreading the sunshine to joyful little kids at a toy store before he decided to move on to a music store.  Apparently, one customer at the music store didn’t seem to be as much a fan of Elmo as we are and started punching him!  At first, although surprised, Elmo stayed in character as he reacted to the attack demonstrating “no, no, no” with his pointer finger and slowly walked away (He only has four fingers, but I would assume it was his pointer).  This was not a big enough hint to the psychotic attacker and he kept on antagonizing our furry friend.

This is the part where the man playing Elmo, Jeramie Trespalacios, knew that he had to take it into his own hands.  He threw down his head and took off his gloves, getting ready to defend himself.  In self-defense, Jeramie forced his weight into the attacker pushing him into a glass display case.  The angry customer fell, crashing the glass and making a large mess.  Customers and employees watched in horror and with great pride, that Elmo did everything he could to ward away strangers and bullies.

Keeping up with “costume news” I often hear about criminals and delinquents in costume.  We also often hear about mascots getting hit, pushed or whacked.  But this is definitely the first time that I have heard about a mascot fighting back…and winning!  The reenactment video of the attack is pretty humorous so it’s a definite must see.
